About Us From Ken Valdez, President of Sun King Solar: My interest in helping people benefit from solar power began, ironically enough, while I was working at the other end of the energy spectrum: coal mining. I was working in a coal mining operation while at the same time building my own home in the beautiful foothills of Grants, New Mexico. We are the distributor for King Solar in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah During the home’s design phase, I began thinking seriously about “going solar.” It made a lot of economic sense in this sun-washed community to supplement the propane-fueled water heating and home heating I was installing with solar. In the course of my research I ran across a company called King Solar. Of the many firms I contacted for information, education and equipment, they provided the most help by far. It turns out that there was a great match with their expertise in solar and my experience with the different aspects of residential, commercial and industrial construction. We established a great rapport and mutually agreed that I would become the exclusive distributor for their equipment (and know-how) in my neck of the woods. Thus began my new career helping to spread the word about solar in the four states for which my company, Sun King Solar, has distribution rights to King Solar’s equipment: New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah.
